My Internship at
John Brown University

The UMC Team
This is the University Marketing and Communications crew I interned with while I was at JBU. Julie Gumm is the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, and Kelly Saunders is the Senior Graphic Designer and my mentor of that summer. The guys are Jay Nickel, Carlson Wakefield, Carter Henson, and Skee Lessard. I'm proud to have worked with them and wish them well.

All logos, trademarks, or other such Media Content on this website affiliated with John Brown University (hereafter referred to as "JBU") belongs to JBU. I do not own the rights to any such Media Content that belongs to JBU.
Headlock Logos
My internship began with helping Kelly perfect these headlock logos based on Nick Robinson's specifications. This project was hit-and-miss, since Nick had a lot of decisions to make about them. There are about 20 logos total, but I was only able to officially complete a few of them by August.
This is just a small sample. The hardest one to make was probably the women's volleyball logo: with the longest text, the golden all-caps scrolled pretty far across the bottom of the logo under the dynamic type.
After JBU Booklet
Near the end of my internship, I got to work on this booklet marketed for family members of prospective students. The booklet statistically explains what life tends to look like for JBU students after graduation. (Booklet is only available for viewing on desktop, not on mobile.)
I referred to Julie and Kelly for revisions. The most challenging aspect to the creation of this booklet was emailing the myriad companies, asking if we may include their logos on the pages that promote them and the JBU graduates who recently worked for them.
The booklet wasn't complete until after my internship. The UMC team completed it later, and it looks fabulous! I'm sure the booklet has helped prospective students to enroll in JBU and prepared their families to understand some of the positive implications of that life-altering decision.
Majors Brochures
The 51 brochures were the most important project I worked on over the summer. Since they were my main focus, I received a lot of necessary feedback on them from Julie, Jay, Kelly, and Carter. Each of them was thankful for my contributions to these brochures.
During the summer, Game Design and Performing Arts became majors, while Digital Cinema was renamed to Film. The sample contains 35 of the brochures in alphabetical order in an all-pages format for easy viewing.
School of Majors Banners
These larger-than-life banners were designed for orientation week, so freshmen could ask about different majors. When my workload lessened, I asked Julie for more to do. She assigned me to create a banner for the Irish Studies Program. Unfortunately, I don't have that one to show here, but it is fairly similar to these school of majors banners.
Stickers
Designing stickers was one of the smaller projects that Kelly let me do when the other projects were awaiting review. Circle stickers were fairly popular, so I made them that way. It was fun to make stickers for the updated logos of SEA and the California Café.
These were going to be souvenirs. Unfortunately, I never received feedback on them, so I don't know whether the UMC team chose to use them or not. However, I uploaded them to the shared workspace so they would have a copy.
